Impact mining communities in Mwanza, Tanzania, as a Mining Advisor with Cuso International from August 2026. Provide essential training and introduce innovative mining technologies.
This volunteer role spans five months, available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Your focus will be on empowering small-scale and artisanal miners by offering strategic insights and training in modern techniques and sustainable practices. You will be instrumental in enhancing safety standards within the region.
Key Responsibilities:
• Carry out assessments for mining community needs
• Identify and introduce relevant mining technologies
• Work with SIDO to strengthen local capacity
• Facilitate connections between miners and service providers
• Lead educational sessions on the latest mining methods
Requirements:
• Degree in Mining Engineering or closely related discipline
• Experience in small-scale mining contexts
• Familiarity with current mining practices
• Strong interpersonal skills in diverse cultures
• Advantageous prior work in developing countries
