Instructor – Renovation & Construction (Mississauga, ON)

Job SummaryCIMT College is looking for an instructor to teach the Renovation & Construction program, which is registered with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities. The instructor will follow CIMT College’s policies and procedures and use the provided instructor manual to train students in practical and theoretical skills.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate thorough and accurate knowledge of the field.
- Instruct the curriculum using only pre-authorized and provided materials.
- Teach students using a diverse set of activities such as lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, case studies, and independent or group projects.
- Employ appropriate adult teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to diverse students.
- Administer and mark quizzes, assignments, exams and other assessments to monitor and evaluate student progress.
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return marks promptly.
- Provide feedback on student performance.
- Collect feedback from students on instructor, content, and facility at the end of each course.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and individual circumstances in a multicultural environment.
- Resolve student complaints and concerns with a positive and professional attitude.
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
- Ensure classrooms are left clean and orderly and that equipment is protected.
- Assist admissions team with inquiries from prospective students.
- Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events such as graduation.
- Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information.
- Stay current in the subject matter through professional development.
- Display teamwork and problem‑solving attitude.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to present information clearly and adapt to different learning styles.
- Professional business attire and interpersonal skills to act as a mentor and role model.
- 48 months of work experience in the vocation, OR
- 36 months of teaching experience in the vocation and 24 months of work experience in the vocation, OR
- 24 months of work experience in the vocation and hold a Bachelor’s degree from a Canadian university or equivalent.
- Graduate of a College of Applied Arts and Technology or equivalent.
- Graduate of a registered OCC or equivalent.
- Meet instructor qualification standards as outlined in the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.
- Must be available to teach in campus‑Mississauga, ON as per the accepted schedule.
Base pay rate: CAD $24/hr – $28/hr.
