Position: West Neighbourhood House Literacy Worker Role
Shape futures as a Literacy Worker with West Neighbourhood House in Toronto! Support adults in upgrading their literacy and numeracy skills through tailored educational programs.

As a Contract Adult Literacy Worker, you will assess learner needs, facilitate classes, and create inclusive learning plans. Collaborating with the Adult Learning team, you will also supervise volunteer tutors and maintain participant records. Embrace diversity and foster a positive educational environment, enhancing skills for community empowerment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meet potential learners to assess their goals

• Facilitate personalized literacy and numeracy classes

• Provide referrals to enhance learner progress

• Train volunteer tutors in supportive methods

• Ensure participant confidentiality and data management

Requirements:

• Experience or education in adult education field

• 1 - 3 years in related community support roles

• Strong communication and organizational abilities

• Knowledge of Ontario Adult Literacy Curriculum an asset

• Flexibility to work varying hours, including weekends
