:
This course is designed for heritage and native speakers with little to no knowledge of written Spanish who have basic to fluent speaking and comprehension abilities. The course provides foundations in understanding the Spanish grammatical system, opportunities to increase vocabulary and to develop writing skills and the ability to use the language across different contexts including in more formal situations. As part of this course, students have the option of participating in an international learning experience that will have an additional cost and application process.

Sessional Lecturer I - $9,997.48 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $10,699.22 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II - $10,699.22 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,953.96 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III - $10,953.96 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $11,228.90 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum qualifications:
PhD degree in Spanish Studies is required.
Demonstrated knowledge in the specific area of the course is required.
Demonstrated experience teaching a university-level Spanish language course is required.
(Near-)native Spanish fluency is required.
Preferred qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in teaching this course, or a similar course at the university level, is preferred.
Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
Description of duties:
All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; out-of-class interactions with students via e-mail and office hours; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; order all necessary readings.
