Seasonal Contract Full-Time Permanent Mississauga, ON, CA

The Grade Lead Teacher is responsible for providing leadership, mentorship, and instructional support to teachers within a specific grade level (e.g., Primary, Junior, Intermediate, Secondary). This role involves collaborating with school administration and staff to ensure curriculum alignment, effective assessment practices, and a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instructional Leadership:
  • Model and support best teaching practices for the assigned grade level.
  • Lead grade-level meetings to discuss curriculum planning, assessment, and student progress.
  • Assist teachers in implementing differentiated instruction and inclusive education strategies.
  • Work closely with the school administration and other lead teachers to align school-wide goals.
  • Mentor new or occasional teachers, providing guidance on classroom management and instructional strategies.
  • Facilitate professional learning opportunities for grade-level teams.
  • Curriculum & Assessment:
  • Ensure alignment with Ontario curriculum expectations and MAC OGS initiatives.
  • Support the development and implementation of common assessments.
  • Analyze grade-level data to identify trends and recommend instructional improvements.
  • Student Support & Engagement:
  • Promote a positive school culture that supports student well-being and academic success.
  • Collaborate with guidance counsellors, and support staff to meet diverse student needs.
  • Engage parents/guardians through communication and involvement in student learning.
  • Professional Development:
  • Participate in and lead board-wide or school-based professional development sessions.
  • Stay current with Ministry of Education policies, MAC OGS priorities, and educational research.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Certification: Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification in good standing.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of teaching experience, preferably within the GTA
  • Leadership

    Skills:

    Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor colleagues, and facilitate collaboration.
  • Curriculum Knowledge: Strong understanding of Ontario curriculum, assessment (e.g., Growing Success), and MAC OGS Tarbiya initiatives.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Additional Assets:
    • Specialist qualifications (e.g., Math, Reading, Special Education, ESL).
    • Experience with technology integration (e.g., Google Classroom, Powerschool).
