Join University of Toronto Mississauga as a Sessional Lecturer I in Cultural Astronomy. Teach and inspire students about celestial events and their cultural significance from January 2027.
The role necessitates a Ph.D. in a relevant field with a strong emphasis on prior teaching experience. Your expertise in archaeoastronomy and ethnoastronomy will guide students in understanding historic and contemporary astronomical practices. Preparation, delivery, and assessment will encompass all facets of the course, supported by TA's as needed based on enrollment stats.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare engaging course content for students
• Mark assignments and administer examinations
• Calculate final grades for enrolled students
• Direct TA's to support student learning
• Hold regular office hours for additional support
Requirements:
• Doctorate in Astronomy required
• Demonstrated excellence in previous teaching roles
• Familiarity with cultural astronomy topics expected
• Strong communication skills essential
• Past student evaluation documentation required
