Patron Career Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented and highly experienced Electrical Estimator to support one of our leading clients in the electrical construction sector. This position plays a critical role within the pre-construction estimating team, preparing accurate and competitive plan & specification estimates for a wide range of projects.
The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to convert complex drawings into well-structured, competitive bids for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesBid Preparation
Prepare complete and detailed electrical cost estimates for projects ranging from $K to $M+
Develop accurate labor, material, and equipment pricing to support competitive bids
Plan & Specification Analysis
Perform detailed quantity take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings
Ensure all estimates comply with project specifications, local bylaws, and electrical codes
Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination
Solicit, review, and analyze pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
Ensure scope completeness and competitive market pricing
Risk & Cost Analysis
Identify potential project risks, constructability issues, and technical challenges
Incorporate contingencies and risk mitigation strategies into final estimates
Value Engineering
Recommend alternative materials, methods, or sequencing strategies to optimize costs without compromising quality or performance
Collaboration
Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and General Contractors during pre-bid and project handover phases
Estimating Software (Accubid)
Prepare and manage estimates using Accubid
Process and manage change notices within Accubid
Maintain organized and accurate estimate documentation
Professional RequirementsExperience
–+ years of electrical estimating experience
Proven background in commercial, institutional, and industrial projects
Education & Technical Background
Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
Journeyman electrician experience or equivalent hands-on field experience is considered a strong asset
Advanced proficiency in Accubid
Strong working knowledge of Bluebeam and Microsoft Office
Technical Knowledge
Thorough understanding of the Ontario Electrical Code
Solid grasp of labor productivity factors, installation methods, and construction sequencing
Core CompetenciesTechnical Literacy: Ability to interpret complex multi-discipline drawings (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical)
Market Awareness: Up-to-date knowledge of material pricing, supplier trends, and regional labor rates
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
Time Management: Proven ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
