The role requires producing high quality, cost effective, detail 3D designs and general arrangement drawings. The designer will, in general, work under the supervision of the Principal Designer, Lead Discipline Design Engineer or the Project Lead Engineer.

Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Designer to join our growing Design and Drafting team in Mississauga, ON.
The tasks you'll perform
- Be proficient in all aspects of 3D Micro Station software (and preferably OBD) and to use those skills within the Lycopodium defined CAD procedures.
- Be proficient in the supervision of up to three subordinate personnel
- Be proficient in the layout and detailing of materials handling and mine plant design in their nominated discipline.
- Produce design drawings that are consistent industry standard techniques and that comply to Lycopodium drawing office and CAD procedures.
- Demonstrate an ability to work in a team environment and have good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be capable of producing design drawings within the project defined budget hours for the defined deliverable document.
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of fabrication and construction techniques.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development.
- Check design drawings as required.
The expertise you'll bring
- Proficiency in Bentley 3D Microstation software.
- An approved diploma qualification in Engineering Design Drafting of their discipline or directly related industry experience of minimum 5 years.
- Ability to consistently provide designs and solutions within agreed milestone dates and to a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.
- Ability to manage drafting team and achieve budget manhours and milestone deliverable dates.
- Demonstrate a high level of technical knowledge for mineral processing designs and technologies in various commodities.
- Demonstrate a high level of technical ability within the field of expertise and a broad understanding and knowledge base in the minerals processing engineering field.
- Proficient computer skills with the Microsoft suite of software packages, including MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated skills with the use of specific proprietary software packages relevant to the Engineering discipline.
- Excellent command of the English language and report writing skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a practical approach to design problems.

The expected salary range for this role is $90,000 to $120,000. This range is based on the role’s job family and level and reflects a good faith estimate for the role at the time of posting. Your final offer will depend on factors such as market conditions, internal equity and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
