Your role The qualified individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Provide design solutions and assessments for new, updated and modified fire protection systems, structures and components.
Perform hydraulic evaluations on complex systems.
Prepare and/or review design documents for Nuclear Power Plants; e.g., Design Calculation, Design Requirements, Assessments, Technical Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Materials, and System Code Classification.
Prepare and/or review Engineering Quotation Request and Tender Technical Evaluations.
Perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings as required.
Ensure applicable code, standards and regulatory requirements are met.
Provide support for the preparation of Engineering proposals.
Ensure adherence to company quality program.
Ensure adherence to project delivery requirements and schedule.
Support Engineering Management with timely updates on engineering progress.
Interface with internal and external stake holders as required.
About you Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering or Engineering Science.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in process-system design/analysis, preferably with a focus on fire protection systems in the nuclear industry.
Experience performing hydraulic evaluations.
Experience in process system design and layout.
Site experience in construction, or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset.
Experience performing work to nuclear power plants procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plants engineering activities is an asset.
Working knowledge of/experience with using fire protection codes and standards, including CSA N293, CSA N393, NFCC, NBCC and NFPA.
Working knowledge of/experience with the CSA B51 standard, ASME Section III, ASME B31.1 codes.
Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards and regulatory guides, including CSA N285.0 is an asset.
Knowledge of analytical tools used for mechanical and process design (e.g. ANSYS, Mathcad, Flomaster, NUCIRC, Autosprink RVT or similar).
Must have excellent communication and technical writing skills.
Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
