Senior Hydrogeologist

Location:

Waterloo, Ontario (flexibility for other Ontario offices). This is a full‑time role that requires travel to field sites, including occasional overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment Program.
  • Prepare proposals, develop work plans/budgets and manage projects/tasks.
  • Plan, coordinate and support field programs, including intrusive investigations.
  • Develop conceptual hydrogeologic models.
  • Review field information from investigations; prepare reports, including interpretation of geological and hydrogeological conditions.
  • Interpret aquifer tests and characterize aquifers based on maps and other spatial data.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams on baseline and impact assessment projects, feasibility studies, groundwater and surface water assessments, groundwater flow and transport models, and contaminant investigations.
  • Prepare technical reports and client presentations summarizing project work, findings and recommendations.
  • Perform QA/QC of technical documents and deliverables.
  • Demonstrate sound application of established practices, standards and guidelines.
  • Travel as required to various field sites; overnight travel sometimes required.
Capabilities and Credentials
  • Strong initiative and capability for independent action with informed decision making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and advanced technical report writing skills.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, balancing immediate and long‑term work with varying priorities and deadlines.
  • Fundamental understanding of project‑task management.
  • Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience with numerical groundwater flow and transport modeling is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of mine and environmental regulations and policies is considered an asset.
  • General knowledge in groundwater chemistry for mine‑related projects is an asset.
Education and Experience
  • Post‑secondary educational background, ideally M.Sc. specializing in Geoscience or Engineering with emphasis on hydrogeology.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in consulting or regulatory environment, regularly using and analysing hydrogeologic data.
  • Professional registration or eligibility is required (P.Geo. or P.Eng.).
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Primary location:
