We are looking for a motivated Process Engineering Co‑op Student specializing in pyrometallurgy to support client‑driven projects within our metals business. This role is based at our Global Headquarters in Mississauga.
Responsibilities- Resolve engineering challenges related to process metallurgy, high‑temperature thermochemistry, and pyrometallurgical processes for metals and critical minerals.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Prepare technical reports and presentation materials for clients.
- Assist in research and development of new metallurgical and process technologies.
- Develop and apply process models and simulation tools.
- Interpret and analyze simulation and field data and develop test work programs.
- Prepare engineering deliverables and calculations including mass and energy balances, design criteria, drawings, engineering reports, facility layouts, hazard studies, and cost estimates.
- Support project management tasks within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
- Preference for 3rd or 4th year engineering students.
- Preference for candidates in Chemical, Materials, or Metallurgical Engineering, or related majors.
- Preference for prior co‑op experience or research/capstone projects in a related field.
- Strong academic record required.
- Solid understanding of process engineering and metals industry fundamentals.
- Knowledge of process metallurgy, high‑temperature thermochemistry, thermodynamics, and metallurgical/extractive/material processes.
- Skill in preparing process and engineering calculations, mass and energy balances, and process drawings.
- Quick learner who embraces change and can tackle new challenges.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly motivated with positive attitude, critical and creative thinking, and problem‑solving ability.
- Strong programming skills are a major plus.
Hourly rate: $26.00 – $33.00. Compensation may include performance‑based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs to support well‑being and growth.
