R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited (Burnside) is seeking an accomplished leader to drive innovation and excellence in transportation planning and traffic engineering. This is a unique opportunity for a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise and strong project management skills to lead a growing practice and make a lasting impact on communities across Ontario.
About the RoleReporting to the Senior Vice President, Transportation, this position will be responsible for business development, proposal preparation, project management, and delivery of projects in any of the following areas:
- Lead and grow our transportation planning and traffic engineering practice.
- Manage complex projects from concept to completion, ensuring quality, timelines, and budgets.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices.
- Deliver innovative solutions for municipal transportation master plans, corridor studies, and multi‑modal strategies.
Your work will include:
- Transportation master plans and network planning
- Active transportation strategies
- Transit planning and ridership forecasting
- Transportation safety
- Traffic calming and traffic management
- Transportation policy
- Environmental assessments
- Travel demand forecasting and traffic micro‑simulation
- Oversee project scope, budgets, and schedules to ensure successful delivery.
- Drive business development and proposal preparation.
- Mentor and develop a team of planners, engineers, and technical staff.
- Monitor project financial performance and team utilization.
- Contribute to annual business planning and strategic growth initiatives.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in transportation planning and traffic engineering.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager for large‑scale transportation studies.
- A curriculum vitae with a diverse portfolio of project experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- PMP or formal project management training (asset).
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and vehicle.
- Traffic safety audits and signal design experience.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D or Micro Station Inroads.
