Transportation Assistant - Student

Position: Active Transportation Assistant - Student
Support community mobility as an Active Transportation Assistant with the City of Mississauga. This temporary role requires collaboration and design assistance in enhancing safe walking and cycling infrastructure.

The City of Mississauga is looking for a student enrolled in a post-secondary program for this temporary Active Transportation position. You will help design and implement projects that promote safe, accessible walking and cycling options. Attend to tasks such as preparing work orders, assisting in engineering designs, and engaging with the public on transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare work orders for transportation improvements

• Assist with design of bicycle lanes and multi-use trails

• Develop public engagement plans for major projects

• Review active transportation facilities and provide recommendations

• Investigate bike parking and signage inventory needs

Requirements:

• Enrolled in civil engineering or related degree program

• Knowledge of cycling and pedestrian infrastructure

• Experience with design software and MS Office

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Must have personal transportation for site visits
