AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Water/Wastewater Construction Engineering Intern. This position is for a newly created position in the Mississauga, ON office. The role is expected to start in September 2026.

Responsibilities

Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks related to municipal wastewater treatment and automation design and construction administration activities, designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

Work under supervision of a project manager, contract administrator, and/or senior-level team member.

Equipment selection and liaison with equipment suppliers and vendors.

Review quantity and cost estimates for completeness and accuracy.

Participate in contract administration services during the construction of wastewater infrastructure and facilities.

Perform municipal wastewater treatment plant site investigations, data collection, and analysis activities.

Work collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams and assist with coordination tasks.

Qualifications

Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechatronics, System Design or a similar discipline, and must have completed at least 1 year of study. Recent graduates with a bachelor’s degree who plan to continue with a Master’s degree are eligible; recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most recent school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree at the conclusion of the internship.

Proficient in the use of desktop computational tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, etc.

Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.

Strong technical report writing skills.

Able to organize workload and meet multiple project deadlines.

Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include AutoCAD, Revit, Micro Station).

Previous work experience in the field of municipal wastewater is an asset.

Relocation is not available for this position.
