PCM Innovation currently has a career opportunity at Pratt & Whitney Canada (PWC) for a Technical Writer to join their site in Mississauga, Ontario.
Position OverviewThe Technical Publications team is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of PWC’s technical documentation used in the operation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of the full range of PWC products, including turbofans, turboprops, turbo shafts, and auxiliary power units (APUs).
The objective of the role is to deliver high‑quality technical documentation that provides clear, accurate instructions in compliance with ATA and S1000D industry standards.
Maintaining and operating PWC products involves numerous activities such as assembly, disassembly, testing, cleaning, fault isolation, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, configuration control, and hands‑on validation. As a result, this role involves collaboration with multiple teams across various areas of the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather technical information and specifications for PWC maintenance and overhaul manuals.
- Translate complex technical data into explicit, concise, and user‑friendly documentation for diverse audiences.
- Develop and incorporate technical illustrations, diagrams, and schematics to enhance understanding of procedures.
- Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory requirements, internal company standards, and safety guidelines.
- Conduct usability testing and gather end‑user feedback to improve documentation quality and effectiveness.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- College degree in Design and Drafting or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) certification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of gas turbine engines.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite and 2D/3D CAD software.
- Previous experience in technical writing.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- Familiarity with SGML or XML‑based documentation.
- Full‑time position, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Primarily onsite role, with some flexibility in work hours as required.
- Open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents only.
- Successful candidates must pass a security screening under the Canada Controlled Goods Program.
