Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Deputy Project Manager to join our GTA Conveyance team (Mississauga or Markham) and lead the delivery of complex underground, trenchless, and linear infrastructure projects across the GTA region. This is an exciting opportunity to manage high-profile and large flagship projects from pursuit through design and construction while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on one of Canada's most challenging municipal infrastructure programs.

This is an opportunity to grow into a Project Manager for high-profile and large flagship projects exceeding $700M in capital costs. This is a newly created position.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of an underground, municipal infrastructure project, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

  • Serve as a primary client contact, building strong relationships with public and private sector clients, contractors, and key stakeholders.

  • Manage multidisciplinary teams, providing technical leadership, project oversight, and mentorship to engineers and project staff.

  • Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, risk management strategies, and quality plans while monitoring project performance throughout the lifecycle.

  • Collaborate with technical specialists to develop innovative engineering solutions and support complex design challenges.

  • Support business development activities, including proposal preparation, pursuit strategies, client presentations, and interview teams.

  • Coordinate with contractors, regulatory agencies, and project partners to ensure compliance with applicable standards, permits, and project requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to grow AECOM's conveyance and civil infrastructure practice through client engagement, strategic partnerships, and talent development.

  • Experience working with contractors during design development, constructability reviews, and construction planning.

  • Experience delivering projects under traditional and collaborative contracting models, including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, Construction Management, Construction Manager at Risk, Early Contractor Involvement, or similar delivery models.

  • Familiarity with trenchless construction, shaft design, utility coordination, and underground infrastructure interfaces.

  • Experience using Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Excel, or other project controls tools.

  • Support procurement, contract administration, Requests for Information, technical clarifications, and change management activities.

  • Coordinate design submissions, technical reviews, action registers, decision logs, and project controls documentation.

  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, Construction, or a related Engineering discipline.

  • 8+ years of progressive experience managing complex infrastructure projects, with significant experience in major municipal conveyance infrastructure.

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 12+ years or Project Management experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering large, technically complex projects.

  • Strong understanding of project management
