Join Our Team as a P&PD Engineering Specialist at Johnson Electric!

Location: Mississauga, ON (onsite)
Salary Range: $78,000. annually

As our next P&PD Engineering Specialist
, you’ll be at the forefront of developing and launching new products while supporting the continuous improvement of existing product lines. Your expertise in product and process development, APQP, and manufacturing engineering will be crucial in driving successful program launches, improving product quality, and supporting operational excellence.

  • What You’ll Be Doing:

    • Provide technical support to engineering, production, and cross-functional teams

    • Lead and support APQP activities for new and modified product launches

    • Maintain project timelines and ensure successful execution of development programs

    • Participate in internal and external design reviews for products and manufacturing processes

    • Coordinate prototype and pre-production builds and support product validation activities

    • Select and manage special product and process characteristics

    • Communicate with customers to resolve technical issues and support project requirements

    • Lead team activities related to problem-solving, goal setting, and project execution

    • Support and implement corrective and preventive actions

    • Perform and lead capacity analysis studies

    • Collect and analyze trial data to establish process parameters and production conditions

    • Transfer product and process knowledge from development phases to production teams

    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and waste reduction

    • Develop test methods and conduct trials to evaluate product and process improvements

    • Create and implement procedures, work instructions, and process documentation

    • Develop and maintain APQP documentation including Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, and related quality documents

    • Verify and approve product and process documentation as required

    • Support production troubleshooting and resolution of product and process issues

    • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and all quality and EHS requirements

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline

    • 3+ years of experience in product development, process engineering, or a similar engineering role

    • Experience in manufacturing environments, preferably automotive manufacturing

    • Knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, Process Flow Diagrams, and quality planning tools

    • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

    • Strong computer skills and technical aptitude

    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

    Bonus Points If You Have:

    • Experience with AutoCAD

    • Powder Metallurgy Technologist (PMT) Certification Level 1 or willingness to obtain certification

    • Experience leading continuous improvement projects

    • Experience supporting product launches and prototype development

    • Exposure to automotive quality standards and manufacturing systems
