The High-Pressure Metallurgy Group is part of the Base Metals division within Hatch. The group is responsible

for the design, construction and commissioning of hydrometallurgical plants used globally for the recovery

of minerals such as gold, nickel, uranium and other precious metals.

Hatch is seeking a Mechanical Design Technologist Co-op Student with an interest in process plant layout and equipment design for a 12-month internship starting January 2026. Reporting to the High-Pressure Metallurgy Mechanical Detail lead, you will support offices globally working from our Mississauga Head Office.

• Development of 3D models of various mineral processing equipment in an integrated CAD environment.
• Design of custom fabricated mechanical equipment in a 2D and 3D environment.
• Coordinate with a multidiscipline team of technologists and engineers to advance proposed designs and layouts to completion.
  
  Preparation and updates to project deliverables including general arrangement drawings.

• Mechanical Engineering Diploma
• Strong academic record.
• Hard worker willing to work extra hours when required to meet deadlines.
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team. Eager to learn about the work, the group and the mining industry.
• Experience in 3D modeling and 2D drawing production.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, etc).
• Willing to travel if required.

• Good understanding of engineering and business fundamentals as they apply to engineering problems and projects
• Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges
• Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills, Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
