Whatistheproject?

The Pickering Nuclear Generating Stationrefurbishmentprograminvolvesdesigningandbuildinganewdeep -waterintakein

LakeOntariotoimprovetheplant'scoolingsystem.

Thiswillinvolve:

A1.5km-long tunnel,builtbyapressurizedTBM(10.5mdiameterslurryTBM);
Twoverticalshafts(onshoreandoffshore);
Anoffshoremodularintakestructure,restingonthelakebed.

Whatyouwilldo:

Theprojectisdistinguishedbyitsproximitytoanactivenuclearsite,requiringrigorousstandardsofsafety,planningandcoordination.

Concretely,yourtaskswillbe:

• Supportedprojectteamsintheimplementationandcontinuousimprovementofthe Environmental Management System ;
• Coordinatedenvironmentaldocumentation,permits,monitoring programs,andregulatorycomplianceactivitieswithconsultants,designers,construction teams,and stakeholders;
• Ledenvironmentalriskassessmentsduringdesignandconstructionphases,identifyingimpactsandimplementingmitigationmeasurestominimizeenvironmentalfootprint;
• Oversawenvironmentalmonitoringprograms(noise,vibration,dust,emissions,water quality) andensuredcompliancewithprojectrequirementsandregulatorythresholds;
• Conductedsiteinspections,audits,training sessions,andawarenessprogramstopromoteenvironmentalbestpracticesandcomplianceacrosstheproject;
• Managedenvironmentalnon-conformities,corrective actions,andcontinuousimprovementinitiatives,ensuringeffectiveresolutionandcommunicationoflessonslearned;
• Actedastheprimaryenvironmentalpointofcontactonsite,supportingprojectmanagementwithenvironmentalreporting,reviews,presentations,andstakeholderengagement;
• ContributedtoQHSEperformancethroughparticipationinaudits,management reviews,processimprovementinitiatives,andcross-functional coordination.

• Abachelor’sdegreewithspecializationinplanning,environmental planning,environmental assessment,geographyoranotherrelateddiscipline
• Atleast6yearsofexperienceinanenvironmentalrole
• Experiencewiththeimplementationofenvironmentalmanagementsystems
• KnowledgeofISO
  14001standardsandQHSEregulationsapplicabletolargeconstructionprojects
• Experienceintunnelingorundergroundworksisanasset
• Experienceworkingonprojectswithhigh-risk environments(nuclear,offshore,orsimilar) isanasset
• Excellentcommunicationskills,bothwrittenandverbal
