Senior Property Accountant

Company Description

Our client is a leading Asset and Property Management firm with commercial, residential and condo portfolios consisting of over $1.5 Billion dollars. They are in continual growth mode and are looking to add a Senior Property Accountant to their growing team. This is a newly created role due to the growth of the organization. As such this is a role with succession planning and growth opportunities.

Compensation

$60,000 – $70,000K annually, plus additional perks.

Position Description

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Monthly & Quarterly Reporting Lead a team to ensure monthly financial reports are up to date Reviewing monthly reconciliations and prepare financial statements Prepare quarterly financial statements and variance analysis Manage finance reports for special projects
  • Fixed Assets Manage fixed asset schedules and prepare monthly journal entry Ensure fixed assets schedules are updated regularly
  • Audit Prepare interim and year-end audit schedules Ensure all deadlines are met and all audit paperwork is in order for VP of finance
  • Budget Preparation Assist accounts payable in budgeting the expense accounts Review operating cost budgets with Property Managers Prepare revenue and recovery cost budgets.
  • HST filing Review HST for monthly filing Work with Statistics Canada for any issues, filing, delinquencies, etc.
  • Experience

    In order to be COMPETITIVE for this position, you will have:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 3 years of experience working within accounting and finance within
  • Property Management
  • Experience working within the Condo Property sector in accounting/finance
  • Experience with Yardi Voyageur an MUST
  • Qualifications

  • An accounting designation or pursuing a CA with near completion, an asset
  • Strong computer skills;
    Microsoft word, excel, Power Point
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Education

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • An accounting designation or pursuing an CA with near completion ideal
