Position: Associate Director, Actuary - Living Benefits Inforce Management

Job Description

What is the Opportunity?

The Associate Director - Living Benefits Inforce Management will lead in analyzing, evaluating and improving EBS reporting under IFRS
17 valuation process for Living Benefits portfolio, include products such as Individual Disability Insurance, Group Insurance, and Travel Insurance. Other responsibilities may include working on special projects to improve profitability of the Living Benefits portfolio; and support in experience studies as needed. The role offers high visibility and the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership to shape future direction and priorities.

What will you do?

  • Understanding IFRS
    17 financial reporting process for all products under living benefits, identifying areas of improvements and participate in projects to improve efficiency /better understanding of EBS results

  • Lead other projects including experience studies, special quotes/projects supporting living benefits portfolio

  • Directing the use of actuary tools and models for ensuring actuary outcomes comply with established standards.

  • Other ad-hoc related work as support of regulator filings; audit requests; as well as other assigned by various stakeholders

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Familiarity with insurance product modeling, pricing, or IFRS
    17 valuation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical results to non-technical audiences

  • Proven ability to collaborate in a team environment and manage competing priorities

  • Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science or a related discipline

  • Proficiency in one or more Languages/Technologies like Python, SQL, SAS, R, VBA, Tableau.

  • Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA) or close to FSA exam progress.
