Job Description
What is the Opportunity?This role leads the strategic oversight and execution of capital adequacy and risk profiling for RBC Insurance, with a focus on the Life Insurance Capital Adequacy Test (LICAT) and Financial Condition Testing (FCT). The Associate Director will manage a team of 1–2 actuarial analysts/associates, ensuring regulatory compliance, driving methodological enhancements, and deepening the understanding of RBC Insurance’s risk profile.The Associate Director – Capital and Stress Testing is a leadership role responsible for the accurate and insightful reporting of LICAT and FCT results to fulfill regulatory requirements. This position oversees the execution of Enterprise-Wide Stress Testing (EWST), ORSA sensitivity tests, and other ad-hoc stress testing initiatives. The Associate Director will manage a small team, providing mentorship and guidance while ensuring capital adequacy and risk management excellence for RBC Insurance.
What will you do?
Lead and oversee the preparation, analysis, and reporting of LICAT, FCT, EWST, ORSA sensitivity tests, and other stress testing exercises, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Manage and mentor 1–2 actuarial analysts, providing guidance on model runs, data processing, and preliminary analysis of results.
Drive the identification, development, and implementation of enhancements to capital forecast methodologies and frameworks, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
Monitor regulatory changes, assess their impact on capital adequacy, and recommend strategies for the effective and prudent use of capital.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support RBC Insurance’s risk capital functionalities, including Economic Capital (EC) modeling and product risk assessment.
Ensure the integrity and accuracy of actuarial models and methodologies, leading model improvements and validation efforts.
Prepare and present insights and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Proven ability to lead and mentor a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
Technical Expertise
:
Deep understanding of actuarial principles, practices, and modeling logics for valuation and capital projections. Experience with the GGY AXIS platform is required.
Regulatory Knowledge
:
Strong familiarity with LICAT, FCT, and other regulatory requirements. Prior experience in regulatory reporting is essential.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
:
Ability to identify complex issues, develop innovative solutions, and drive methodological enhancements.
Communication Skills
:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Educational and Professional Credentials
:
Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science or a related field, with a minimum of 7+ years of actuarial experience is required. Preferrable a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA or equivalent).
