Looking to take the next step in your career?

Hatch is embarking on an exciting new chapter as we build our inaugural Government Relations practice – a strategic capability that will shape how we collaborate with policymakers, advance priority issues for our clients, and position Hatch as a key enabler of government projects around the world. This is a unique opportunity to join a team at its inception and help support its direction and impact as a Government Relations Advisor.

We are seeking only the best and brightest - strategic thinkers, relationship builders, and self-starters - who want to help architect a worldclass Government Relations function within a global, entrepreneurial engineering and consulting organization. As part of this founding team, you will have a direct hand in standing up new processes, shaping our advocacy approach, and building long-term partnerships across government and industry.

As a Government Relations Advisor, you will be in a key support role to the Government Relations function, analyzing legislation and policies, providing background research and analysis of stakeholders, and assessing geopolitical, political, and economic trends as they relate to Hatch. You will also assist in preparing Hatch’s leadership for meetings with government officials and will have the opportunity to attend meetings when needed.

A core component of your role will be to provide timely logistical support to the function. You will also have the responsibility of leading data management - amassing, inputting, and tracking business intelligence in Hatch’s government relations databases.

At Hatch, we’re entrepreneurs with a technical soul. Our flat organizational structure and spirit of entrepreneurship means your voice will be heard, your ideas will matter, and your contributions will influence decision-making at the highest levels.

If you possess strong organizational skills, are ready to work as part of a high performing team and are energized by the opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up, this role is for you. Reporting to the Director of Government Relations, you will support offices globally working from our Mississauga, Ontario office location.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Monitor and analyze legislative, policy, and regulatory changes
  • Prepare briefing notes, reports, and presentations for leadership
  • Support the development of advocacy strategies and campaigns
  • Coordinate meetings with government officials and industry associations
  • Utilize advanced data management expertise to consolidate and track data from diverse sources into a streamlined, centralized database
  • Lead the planning and flawless execution of events, overseeing all stages from concept to completion and follow up to deliver exceptional experiences
  • Maintain compliance with lobbying and disclosure requirements.

You bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy / Government, Economics, Law, Business, Communications, or a related field from an accredited University
  • Master’s degree in a related discipline is considered an asset.
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in politics, policy analysis, economics, government relations, public affairs or journalism
  • Technical Proficiency:
Advanced knowledge of Excel, CRM systems, and database management. Fluency in macroeconomic concepts.
