The Communications Operator position requires handling emergency calls under a Communications Officer’s guidance. This permanent role includes responsibilities like operating dispatch equipment and maintaining contact with fire service vehicles during emergency and routine operations. Prepare for varied shifts, including nights and weekends, as you provide critical support during high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Answer 911 and emergency assistance calls
• Operate telephone and computerized dispatch systems
• Maintain radio contact with fire service vehicles
• Conduct system tests and record activities
• Complete assigned duties related to communications
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent education
• Completed enrollment in Emergency Services Dispatch program
• Previous emergency communication experience preferred
• Minimum 40 words per minute typing accuracy
• Ability to handle stressful situations effectively
