Strada XR virtual art department is hiring for the role of Technical Artist:
Real-Time Systems & Media Integration
Overview
We are a virtual art department building real-time environments and immersive experiences that interface with live media, audio, and broadcast systems. We are seeking a Technical Artist with a strong Unreal Engine foundation to bridge creative intent and technical execution across real-time pipelines.
This role focuses on system logic, integration, and stability while connecting Unreal Engine with media servers, control systems, and networked data flows. You will work closely with artists, engineers, and audio teams to ensure that interactive and real-time systems are robust, flexible, and production-ready.
This is a hands-on, implementation-focused role with technical ownership, but not a pure software engineering position.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement gameplay and system logic in Unreal Engine using Blueprints
- Integrate Unreal Engine with external media servers and control systems
- Develop, maintain, and optimize API-based workflows, particularly for Pixera or similar media server environments
- Support real-time media playback, control, and synchronization across immersive experiences
- Implement and maintain network communication between software systems, with a strong focus on OSC (Open Sound Control)
- Collaborate with artists to ensure technical systems support creative goals without unnecessary constraint
- Troubleshoot and stabilize real-time systems in production and live environments
- Document technical setups, logic structures, and integration patterns for internal use
Unreal Engine (Blueprint Focus)
- Strong expertise in Unreal Engine using Blueprints for logic design and system integration
- Ability to structure clean, scalable Blueprint systems
- Experience with Unreal Engine's live-event and immersive plugins, specifically nDisplay for multi-screen and LED volume setups
- C++ proficiency is a strong bonus, but not required
- Ability to write, maintain, and optimize Lua scripts
- Experience working with APIs, particularly for controlling or extending media server functionality (Pixera or similar)
- Foundational understanding of media broadcast workflows, including:
- Pixera
- Disguise
- Green Hippo
- Familiarity with real-time media playback, routing, and control logic
- Strong understanding of networked communication between applications
- Hands-on experience implementing and debugging OSC-based workflows
- Basic web development experience (JavaScript / HTML5)
- Experience working with JSON data structures
- Ability to export configurations from web tools or portals and inject data into media server systems (e.g., Pixera)
- Exposure to live show control, interactive installations, or broadcast environments
- Experience working as a Technical Artist, Creative Technologist, or similar role in real-time or immersive environments
- Strong systems thinking—you understand how tools, data, and people intersect
- Comfort working in technically complex, multi-software environments
- Ability to communicate clearly with both artists and engineers
- Calm, methodical approach to debugging and integration challenges
