Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Executive Director, Large Credit Union Coalition (LCUC) - Large Credit Union Coalition (LCUC)
Who We Are  The Large Credit Union Coalition (LCUC) represents Canada’s largest credit unions with over 3.3 million members and $184 billion in assets, with credit unions in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and New Brunswick. The goal of the LCUC is to use their collective knowledge and national presence to provide technology leadership and innovation to enrich the financial lives of their members and strengthen the competitiveness of Canadian credit unions.
Executive Director Overview  LCUC is seeking a rare kind of Executive Director. One who leads not from the front, but from within and behind a highly respected group of CIOs shaping the future of Canadian credit unions. This role is not about being the smartest technologist in the room. It’s about bringing exceptional leaders together, helping them find shared conviction, and transforming that collective strength into influence, momentum, and sector‑level impact.
Responsibilities   Lead from behind, enabling CIOs to be the visible leaders, speakers, and subject‑matter experts for the coalition.
Bring together diverse CIO perspectives to formulate shared strategy, common positions, and a unified voice.
Facilitate high‑value CIO engagements that people don’t want to miss.
Coach and support CIOs as thought leaders on topics such as Open Banking, AI, Digital Identity, and emerging technologies, without positioning yourself as the hero.
Translate collective insight into whitepapers, sector positions, and executive‑ready narratives.
Market and advocate LCUC‑driven ideas across the broader credit union ecosystem.
Strengthen cohesion, trust, and momentum within the CIO group, personally and collectively.
Help activate the considerable respect and credibility the LCUC CIO group already holds within the sector.
This Role is for Someone Who   Gets their satisfaction from seeing others succeed.
Is energized by facilitation, persuasion, and shared wins.
Knows how to make strong leaders feel included, valued, and motivated.
Understands that influence is built through trust, presence, and clarity, not authority.
Can sense when a group is in a lull and knows how to reignite purpose and energy.
Your Skills & Experience  You bring a rare blend of strategic insight, facilitation excellence, and persuasive leadership. You are most effective when working alongside strong leaders rather than over them.
Demonstrated Strength In   Leading Through Influence, Not Authority:
Significant experience working with senior executives, boards, or peer‑level leaders, enabling others to shine.
Facilitation, Engagement & Group Dynamics:
Exceptional facilitation, designing and leading conversations that matter.
Strategic Synthesis & Storytelling:
Listening deeply, identifying patterns, consolidating complex perspectives into clear strategies, positions, and narratives.
Sales, Advocacy & Executive Presence:
Persuasive without being forceful; sell ideas internally and externally with clarity and credibility.
Building Momentum & Creating Energy:
Re‑energize groups, reignite purpose, and build momentum during strategic pauses or transitions.
Developing and Elevating Others:
Coaching and supporting senior leaders as subject‑matter experts and thought leaders.
Sector & Ecosystem Awareness:
Understanding how influence works across complex ecosystems; experience in financial services, technology, cooperative systems, or other multi‑stakeholder environments is an asset, but navigating relationships matters most.
Background Likely Includes   Senior leadership experience in roles requiring high levels of collaboration, facilitation, and influence.
Strong track record of working across organizations or stakeholder groups to build alignment and shared outcomes.
Experience shaping or advancing sector‑wide initiatives, collective strategies, or shared platforms.
Proven communication skills across written, verbal, and presentation formats.
Comfort operating in ambiguity, with the ability to create clarity and forward motion.
This role is not about being the technical expert in the room. It is about unlocking the collective expertise already there and helping it move the sector forward.
