Senior Business Data Analyst - Financial Services & Data Governance

Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Data Analyst to support enterprise data governance, metadata management, and regulatory reporting initiatives within the financial services domain. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, domain teams, and development teams to gather requirements, manage data governance processes, and support application stability and data quality initiatives. This role requires strong expertise in financial services, metadata management platforms, SQL, Python, Agile methodologies, and stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities:

Partner with business users and domain teams to gather, analyze, document, and validate functional and non-functional requirements

Translate complex business requirements into detailed functional and technical design documentation

Collaborate with development teams throughout the build, testing, and deployment lifecycle

Serve as the primary communication point for stakeholders regarding project deliverables, timelines, and status updates

Manage and track issues, defects, and enhancement requests through production deployment

Prioritize and coordinate workloads across multiple concurrent projects and teams

Perform quality control and validation of SQL queries, Snowflake datasets, and data standardization processes

Support metadata management initiatives including data catalogs, data lineage, business glossaries, and data dictionaries

Assist with application support, production issue triage, and incident resolution activities

Support regulatory reporting and data governance initiatives within financial services environments

Proactively identify process improvements, risks, and alternative solutions before issues arise

Work within Agile delivery teams using JIRA and related project management tools

Required Skills:

10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or related role

Recent experience within Banking, Financial Services, or Capital Markets environments

Strong expertise with metadata management tools and data governance platforms

Experience with:

- Data Curation

- Data Catalogs

- Data Lineage platforms

- Data Dictionaries

- Business Glossaries

Strong SQL and Python scripting skills

Experience with data mining, data analysis, and data validation

Hands-on experience with JIRA and Agile methodologies

Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills

Experience supporting application production environments and issue management

Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments

Preferred

Skills:

Experience at a Sell Side Bank or similar financial institution

Experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks

Knowledge of regulatory reporting processes

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills

Curiosity and willingness to deeply understand business domains and processes

Adaptability in dynamic and evolving environments
