Position Summary
The Senior Director, Enterprise Infrastructure Operations is accountable for the stability, performance, security, and cost‑effectiveness of all enterprise infrastructure services across on‑premises and cloud environments. This role ensures operational excellence for compute, storage, backup, and cloud‑hosted workloads, while leading managed service providers (MSPs) and internal teams to deliver reliable, secure, and compliant services at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Own End‑to‑End Infrastructure Operations:  Accountable for day‑to‑day operations of compute, storage, backup, and cloud infrastructure services.

Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability:  of infrastructure platforms supporting business‑critical systems.

Establish and enforce operational standards, procedures, and runbooks.

Lead incident, problem, and change management practices.

Drive Operational Excellence & Service Reliability:  Define and manage SLAs, SLOs, KPIs; implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and capacity management; lead root‑cause analysis; continuously improve operational maturity, automation, and service quality.

MSP & Partner Operational Governance:  Own performance and accountability of Managed Service Providers; establish KPIs, governance cadences; ensure adherence to SLAs; partner with Vendor Management Office on renewals, performance, and cost optimization.

Infrastructure Security, Risk & Compliance:  Ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies, audit requirements; lead remediation, patching, and audit findings; partner with Security and Risk teams to strengthen resilience; maintain audit readiness.

Cloud & Hybrid Workload Operations:  Oversee operational management of workloads across hybrid and multi‑cloud environments; enforce consistent practices; optimize cloud operations; partner with Cloud Platforms and Infrastructure Engineering teams on service transitions.

Financial & Capacity Management:  Own infrastructure operational budgets; drive cost optimization; provide transparency on cost drivers, forecasting, and allocation; align capacity planning with business demand.

Documentation, Observability & Reporting:  Ensure accurate and up‑to‑date documentation; deliver operational dashboards and executive reporting; provide actionable insights on capacity, utilization, and service health.

Leadership & Organizational Development:  Build and lead a high‑performing operations organization; define roles and accountability between staff and MSPs; develop leadership capability; foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or professional certifications preferred.

Critical Skills

12+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure operations, including leadership roles overseeing large‑scale hybrid (on‑prem and cloud) environments.

Strong understanding of IT financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization.

Broad knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies, with depth in compute, storage, backup, and cloud platforms.

Proven experience managing hybrid and cloud operations (preferably Microsoft Azure), including workload operations, cost control, and performance management.

Solid understanding of infrastructure operations disciplines: monitoring, patching, capacity management, incident/problem/change management.

Working knowledge of legacy platforms (e.g., IBMi/AS/400) to ensure operational continuity and risk management.

Strong understanding of infrastructure security, risk, and compliance frameworks (SOX, SOC 1 &
2), including audit readiness and vulnerability remediation.

Demonstrated experience in MSP/vendor management, defining SLAs, driving performance, and holding partners accountable.
