Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Fabrication

Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment and systems to ensure efficient production operations. This role requires strong technical expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and precision machinery work, with a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and emergency mechanical repairs on production machinery and systems
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues to minimize downtime
- Conduct preventive maintenance in accordance with scheduled plans
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and work orders
- Use hand tools, welding equipment, lathes, and milling machines for fabrication and modifications
- Collaborate with operators and team members to detect early equipment problems
- Assist with machine installation, relocation, and setup
- Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures
- Maintain accurate work records and inspection reports
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Ontario 433A Millwright Certificate of Qualification
- 4–5 years’ experience as an Industrial Millwright in manufacturing or production
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and fabrication
- Skilled in power tool and shop machinery operation (e.g., drills, lathes, grinders, torches)
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in various environments
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in automotive, packaging, or food manufacturing industries
- Welding or fabrication certification
- Basic PLC or electrical troubleshooting skills
- Forklift or aerial lift license
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting
