Position Overview
The Junior Technician supports the Technical Services Department in the inspection, reconditioning, testing, and documentation of obsolete and legacy electrical distribution equipment. This position contributes to the company's commitment to delivering high‑quality, safe, and reliable refurbished equipment to customers across industrial and commercial sectors.
Working under direct supervision, the Junior Technician performs entry‑level technical tasks, adheres to established processes and safety standards, and provides assistance to senior technicians during more complex procedures. This role serves as a foundational step toward advanced technical positions within the organization.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in the disassembly, cleaning, and refurbishment of electrical components such as circuit breakers, motor starters, contactors, panelboards, and switchgear.
- Conduct basic electrical and mechanical tests in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.
- Support senior technicians in identifying component wear, defects, or failure points during inspection and testing.
- Record test data, inspection findings, and work performed using approved documentation and internal systems.
- Ensure reconditioned equipment meets defined quality, performance, and safety criteria prior to release.
- Maintain proper use and care of tools, instruments, and equipment within the service area.
- Comply with all company safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements.
- Contribute to inventory control for replacement parts, testing materials, and consumables.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the Technical Services Department.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in an electrical or mechanical field preferred.
- Fundamental knowledge of electrical components and circuits (training provided).
- Mechanical aptitude with ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and diagrams.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or move throughout the workday.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in electrical distribution, equipment repair, industrial maintenance, or related technical fields.
- Familiarity with electrical testing equipment such as insulation resistance testers, multimeters, and high‑potential test sets.
- Understanding of industry standards, related to electrical components and assemblies.

This role operates in a shop environment with exposure to mechanical equipment, energized components (under controlled conditions), and industrial tools. Appropriate PPE is required at all times.
