Overview
The QA HACCP Coordinator is responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing the HACCP plan across all Trophy Foods facilities. The role requires knowledge of CFIA regulations and technical writing skills to develop training materials and compliance programs.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, maintain, and implement the HACCP Plan for all facilities.
- Conduct a re‑assessment of all pre‑requisite programs.
- Perform verification and annual validation of CCP, Allergen, and Gluten.
- Perform internal audits and program reassessments.
- Write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and customer specifications.
- Conduct monthly traceability exercises, including mass balance of products.
- Coordinate mock recalls and withdrawals.
- Implement Environmental Monitoring Program, plan, and trend swabbing for ATP, Listeria spp., and salmonella.
- Maintain the pest control program and address pest‑related issues with operations.
- Conduct monthly GMP audits (glass and hard plastic).
- Prepare and maintain documents for third‑party and customer audits.
- Manage Kosher and Organic certification for all facilities.
- Assist the QA Compliance Manager with annual threat assessments and vulnerability assessments.
- Support risk analysis on new ingredients and new plant trial products.
- Develop visual guides and training material for each department.
- Provide training on GMP, Allergen controls, Sanitation, documentation practices, Food Defense, and Food Fraud.
- Collaborate with other departments on initiatives, including shelf‑life extensions.
- Recommend process improvement initiatives based on trends and KPIs.
- Participate in CAPA investigations; report and respond to deviations.
- Act as backup for the QA Compliance Manager.
- Perform other duties as directed.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a science‑related field (e.g., chemistry, microbiology).
- At least 3 years of quality assurance experience and 2+ years as an HACCP coordinator or equivalent.
- Advanced HACCP certification (required).
- PCQI certification (asset, USA only).
- Internal auditing certification or training.
- Knowledge of GFSI schemes (BRC or SQF preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems for food manufacturing (asset).
- Experience delivering training.

- Communicate effectively through active listening and clear information sharing.
- Take ownership of actions and performance.
- Analyze root causes and propose timely solutions.

- Lead change initiatives and champion current projects.
- Apply strategic thinking to balance short‑term and long‑term priorities.
- Align actions with Trophy’s strategic pillars: sustainable growth, cost efficiencies, and organizational capabilities.
- Regular walking through plant and office areas.
- Standing for extended periods (1–2 hours) without sitting.
- Exposure to allergens such as peanuts, tree nuts, sulfites, soy, dairy, egg, gluten, and sesame.
- Exposure to wet or humid conditions, slippery floors.
- Potential exposure to high temperatures (>200°F) and noise (>85dB); ear protection required on plant floor.
- Handling of chemicals may require respiratory and other PPE.
- Frequent need for concentrated attention.
- Use of common sense with basic arithmetic and clear instructions.
