Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
We are seeking a regular, full-time Material Handler Equipment Technician / Mechanic to join a collaborative maintenance team at a major industrial cold storage facility in Mississauga. In this role, you will perform preventative upkeep, equipment troubleshooting, and mechanical diagnostics on a fleet of 22 electric material handling assets. While the workplace is within a refrigerated food storage facility, you will work primarily out of a designated, climate-controlled maintenance shop room.
Clear communication in English is essential for this location, while bilingualism in English and French is considered a strong asset for long-term career advancement within our Canadian network.
- Competitive hourly compensation ranging from $40 to $44/hr with a steady, non-rotational Monday‑to‑Friday day shift (flexible start times between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM).

- Prioritize down equipment repairs independently to efficiently support warehouse throughput and operational workflows.
- Document all maintenance activities and manage work orders utilizing computerized maintenance software.
- Adhere strictly to correct, standardized repair procedures to ensure full compliance with health, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
- Cross‑collaborate willingly with the broader 5‑person maintenance team to assist with general facility upkeep when operational demands require it.
- Minimum of 2 years of related mechanical repair experience; a background in heavy machinery, heavy equipment, or automotive mechanics is highly transferable.
- No formal mechanical license (such as a 433A or 310T) is strictly required; practical technical aptitude is prioritized.
- Ability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment for testing and diagnostic verification purposes.
- Physical capability to work within an environment that handles frozen and fresh foods, including entering cold storage zones when testing assets.
- Ownership of standard mechanical hand tools and consent to a position‑specific background check handled directly through Randstad.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic evaluation aptitude for electrical material handling equipment.
- Ability to provide an accurate, independent first diagnosis on complex machinery issues without immediate supervision.
- Proficiency using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or work‑order tracking databases.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, electrical schematics, and mechanical blueprints.
- Collaborative team mindset with an adaptive attitude toward safety‑first maintenance procedures.
