Pay: $85,000-$100,000 CAD annually

As a Design Engineer at INKAS® Armored Vehicle Manufacturing, you will be responsible for evaluating, developing, and improving automotive manufacturing processes with a focus on welding and assembly operations. The Process Engineer will support equipment launch, process design, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement to ensure safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.

What you'll do
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for welding, assembly, fixturing, and material flow.
  • Create process sheets, standard work instructions, layout concepts, and work instructions for production operations.
  • Support launch of new products, equipment, and tooling from concept through production readiness.
  • Lead or support process validation, PFMEA, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Interface with production, quality, maintenance, tooling, product engineering, and suppliers to resolve process issues.
  • Improve throughput, reduce scrap/rework, and support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor process capability, perform data analysis, and drive efficiency, safety, and quality performance.
  • Support welding process development, including manual and automated welding methods, equipment setup, and process optimization.
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Welding, or related engineering discipline.
  • 3–5+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience, preferably in an automotive environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with welding and assembly processes, tooling, fixtures, automation, or BIW systems.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, process control, quality systems, and continuous improvement tools.
Preferred qualifications
  • Resistance welding, MIG/GMAW, FCAW, projection welding, or robotic welding systems.
  • PFMEA, control plans, process audits, and production launch support.
  • CAD (Siemens NX or similar), layout development, equipment specification, and supplier coordination.
  • Exposure to automotive quality standards and plant launch environments.

This position operates in a manufacturing environment and may require time on the production floor, in prototype build areas, and in engineering offices. The successful candidate must be comfortable collaborating with shop‑floor personnel and adapting designs to real‑world production constraints.
