Cerelia Bakery Canada (formerly English Bay Batter) is looking for an R&D Product Manager to join its Innovation Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. The role involves developing new bakery products, scaling prototypes to commercial production, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
Role OverviewThe R&D Product Manager will:
- Scale lab prototypes through pilot plant production and full commercialization.
- Conduct shelf life, sensory, product performance, and quality attribute testing.
- Generate technical information including production specifications, final recipes for P&L, and trial records.
- Provide ongoing technical support to Sales for new product introductions.
- Manage product development technical relationships with internal and external customers.
- Coordinate first‑run product evaluations and approvals.
- Assist in regulatory development of nutrition facts, allergen labeling, and ingredient declaration.
- Maintain the R&D Innovation Center, ensuring traceability of ingredients and clean workspace.
- Source new ingredients, build vendor relationships, and participate in innovation days with suppliers.
- Organize and manage new product ideas from concept to commercial launch.
- Develop processing and technical requirements for scale‑up.
- Lead project teams, demonstrating initiative, creativity, and thoroughness.
- Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, QA, Production, and Marketing.
- Monitor market trends and submit creative product ideas.
- Present products to customers, exhibitions, and staging events.
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or related field.
- 6–8 years of experience in R&D‑based product development within commercial food processing.
- Hands‑on lab experience developing food products.
- Strong technical writing skills and experience in reporting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Genesis software.
- Experience operating laboratory food processing equipment and instruments.
- Excellent project management, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Annual base pay: CAD $95,000–$105,000.
- Annual bonus: 10% of base salary.
