Director of Operations
Our client, an established apparel manufacturer is currently searching for a Director of Operations. We are looking for someone eager to learn the industry as well as being mentored by the current individual for a period of 12 months. Someone who is in a managerial role looking for their next step up in the career.
The hours for the role are 7-4 and half day Fridays. They shut down for 3 weeks during the summer and 1 week during the holidays. This is a mandatory onsite role.
Compensation: 100-120k
Responsibilities
- Oversee all production management to ensure continuous improvement of all production processes.
- Maintain our high company standards of quality.
- Administer efficient production scheduling to balance factory and meet delivery requirements.
- Manage production staffing levels to maximize production efficiencies and cost compliance.
- Reduce costs where opportunities exist without impacting productivity or quality.
- Manage new product development and made-to-measure alteration processes.
- Ensure timely shipments of all products throughout Canada and the USA on a daily basis.
- Minimize production downtime through continuous preventative maintenance of the facility, machinery and equipment.
- Manage all new equipment purchases, including needs assessment, researching options and ROI calculations.
- Direct purchasing of all consumables.
- Develop a strong-working relationship with the union to maintain a cohesive team.
- Create team spirit through accomplishment of long and short term goals.
- Ensure compliance in all aspects of health & safety.
Skills and Qualifications
- Degree in Business Management or a related field.
- Previous experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Result oriented proven leader.
- Strategic thinker.
- Problem solver.
- Hard working, diligent and highly motivated.
- Computer literacy:
Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook and AS400 platform (a plus).
