Registered Practical Nurse - Extendicare

Job Description:

The RPN/LPN will enhance the effective management and quality of nursing practice daily, meeting the standards set by governing bodies and internal policies.

Salary: RPN Visit Rate. Nursing

Schedule:

As per collective agreement. Access to reliable vehicle in community home care is required.

Designated shift may vary; must be flexible based on the needs of the home. Time type: full time.

• Ensure care is provided with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders and administrative policies, observe, report and record vital signs, symptoms and conditions of residents / patients; assure observance of required techniques in nursing care.
• Assist in assessing patients/residents and develop, implement, review, and evaluate care plans. Monitor health, note changes in condition and assess need for referral to doctors; process and implement physicians’ orders.

• Appropriate current certificate of competence from approved institutions for the province.
• Registration or eligible for registration with the approved institutions for the province.
• Previous managerial experience in long‑term care or community homecare preferred.
• Experience dealing with the cognitively impaired.
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices, including infection control practices.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with seniors.
• Ability to present information clearly and effectively verbally and in writing; active listener who projects a friendly demeanour.
• Ability to collect and use information to thoroughly think through problems and situations; sees the big picture and generates creative solutions.
• Organizational, planning, time‑management and multi‑tasking skills.
