Trillium Health Partners (THP) proudly participates in the Ministry of Health’s Nursing Graduate Guarantee (NGG) initiative for 2026/2027. The initiative offers new graduate nurses in Ontario—including those who studied out‑of‑province or abroad—a temporary full‑time position above the staffing complement for up to 12 weeks. The goal is to support nurses’ transition into practice and promote workforce integration.
NGG Initiative Objectives- Support new nurses in Ontario as they transition into practice
- Improve the integration of new nurses into the workforce
- Promote full‑time employment or the equivalent for new nurses
- Enhance health workforce planning at the organizational level
- Provide the new nurse with general orientation to the organization, ensuring familiarisation with policies and standards
- Ensure that a mentor is available and a transition‑to‑practice leader oversees implementation and progress tracking
- Develop a learning plan with the nurse and mentor, incorporating varied teaching strategies and delivery methods aligned with the unit of employment
- Participation is open to nurses within 12 months of registering with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO); the nurse must be registered in the Temporary or General Class before commencing the NGG transition.
- Canadian‑educated nurses:
- Graduated with a baccalaureate degree in nursing or a diploma from a practical nursing program in Canada
- Matched with an employer on the NGG portal within 12 months of registration with the CNO
- Committed to accepting full‑time employment or the equivalent after completing the NGG transition
- Internationally‑educated nurses (IENs):
- Completed nursing education outside Canada
- Matched with an employer on the NGG portal within 12 months of registration with the CNO
- Committed to accepting full‑time employment or the equivalent after completing the NGG transition
