Emergency Registered Veterinary Technician

Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital of West Toronto is looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our emergency team!

Schedule:

Three 12-hour shifts

Rotating days and overnights

Every other weekend

Compensation:

$28 - $35

$3000 sign on bonus

Common Skills used within ER as a RVT:

Venipuncture & IV catheter placement

Triage & Assess patients/obtain vitals.

Critical thinking

Providing nursing care/monitoring to hospitalized patients.

Anesthesia, Surgery prep, Patient recovery

Running in-house lab testing & use of Cubex

Filling prescriptions/Dispensing oral and iv medications

Drug administration.

Radiographs

Provide client education!

ECG monitoring

Advanced CPRRECOVER certification provided for all employees.

Advanced skills include (but are not limited to):

Central lines

Placing urinary catheters

Placing nasogastric tubes

Placing nasal cannulas

Maintaining indwelling tubes (chest tube, feeding tube)

Blood transfusions

Strong skills in anesthesia and willingness to learn advanced techniques.

Experience in multi-modal pain management.

Proficient in radiography and bandage changes.

Comfortable with drug dosage calculations and creating anesthetic protocols.

Skilled in catheter placement and blood draws.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and provide top-notch patient care.
