Reporting to the QA Manager – Food Safety and Quality Programs, the HACCP Coordinator reviews, updates, and maintains all written programs, SOPs, Work Instructions, and HACCP plans to ensure they are current, accurate, both to plant procedures and regulatory requirements through SFCR and BRCGS.

- Responsible for the development, maintenance, and overall management of the Preventative Control Plan (PCP) and Food Safety Management System (FSMS), ensuring all related documents are completed, comprehensive, up-to-date, and accurate. Including, developing, and updating written procedures and policies to meet regulatory, customer and certification bodies requirements.
- Initiates and performs reassessment of the PCP, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and Pre-Requisite Programs annually as per schedule, and when there are changes to programs, processes, procedures, raw materials, equipment, or technology, to ensure that all regulatory, company, and/or customer requirements are effectively implemented.
- Point of contact for communication between the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Maple Lodge Farms – Mississauga, and collaborate, foster, and maintain a positive relationship with the Inspector-In-Charge, ensuring all requests related to Standard Inspection Process (SIP) tasks are addressed, including non-compliances (NC).
- Assists in Product Development tasks such as finished product specification creation/updates, new ingredients and packaging as required.
- Assists in all required training: new hire orientation, annual food hygiene training, QA Technician, etc.
- Assists in supervision of QA Technicians ensuring staff coverage, and task compliance.
- Attend, participate and/or lead in external third-party audits, second-party audits, internal and regulatory audits.
- Supports QA Manager as the back-up as required.
- Analyze microbiological and product analysis data to provide food safety and quality recommendations to management as required for continuous improvement.
- Assists in conducting root cause analysis, including corrective actions and preventative measures for nonconformities and customer complaints.
- Assists in conducting Internal Inspections with a cross-functional group identifying any non-conformities.
- Assists in issuing Supplier Non-Conformances as required.
- Other tasks as required.
- Policies, Processes & Procedures a. Adhere/comply with company policies and procedures. b. Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working in HACCP/GFSI role(s) in the food industry, preferably in meat and in a unionized environment
- Team-player with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders (including CFIA Inspectors)
- Working knowledge of quality assurance principles, food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMPs, HACCP, BRCGS, food safety, food quality, etc.;
- Dynamic and proactive employee, with a strong ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while organizing and prioritizing workload.
- Excellent organizational skills, initiative, attention to detail and accuracy of information.
