We are seeking a QHSE Assistant for a 12‑month contract. This role is ideal for recent graduates or students completing their final term in a food science, quality, or related field who are eager to gain real‑world experience in food safety and quality systems within a dynamic production environment.
You will support the QHSE Manager and Operations teams in implementing and maintaining food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance systems in accordance with HACCP, customer, regulatory and corporate requirements.
Audit & Compliance
Support customer and regulatory audits; liaise with customers and agencies when required.
Conduct monthly internal audits and self‑assessments on food safety elements.
Verify HACCP records, ensure compliance with corporate procedures, and monitor corrective actions.
Participate in root cause analysis and CAPA implementation for non‑conformities.
Continuous Improvement & Projects
Assist in quality and process improvement initiatives across departments.
Track and analyze key performance indicators related to QHSE performance.
Support cross‑functional projects related to quality engineering and sanitation improvements.
Training & Communication
Promote quality and food safety awareness among employees through training and coaching.
Collaborate with Operations Managers to ensure team compliance with HACCP and QHSE programs.
Reinforce best practices and communicate changes in standards or regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
College diploma or bachelor’s degree in food science, quality, or a related field.
1–2 years of experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing or food production environment (co‑op/intership experience accepted).
HACCP certification is an asset (training provided if needed).
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; detail‑oriented with ability to multitask.
Demonstrated problem‑solving and project‑management abilities.
Comfortable working in temperature‑controlled environments (cold rooms, freezers, production areas).
Physically able to lift/move products and equipment and stand for extended periods.
Self‑motivated, proactive, and confident in enforcing compliance.
