Responsibilities Operate, maintain and perform all analyses using a PLM microscope.
Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.
Participate in maintaining and updating laboratory SOP’s.
Review analytical reports to ensure accuracy and correctness of data.
Perform and mentor on all aspects of Laboratory Quality Control and provide technical assistance to staff as directed by the Operations Manager or designate.
Ensure that laboratory procedures are: a) documented in the form of AGAT SOPs, b) being adhered to by staff and laboratory personnel, and c) raise concerns to Operations Manager if procedures are not being followed.
Assist in root cause analysis and nonconformance investigation requests from the Quality Assurance Officer for any nonconforming event, as deemed necessary.
Lead and/or assist in process improvements and method development activities.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications Technical Diploma or Degree in the Science field.
1+ year performing asbestos analysis using PLM test methods along with proficiency testing round robins considered a strong asset.
Completion of a recognized asbestos training course required.
Thorough knowledge of EPA and Standard Methods as well as QA/QC procedures, ISO 17025 standards, CALA / SCC accreditation and proficiency testing considered to be an asset.
Knowledge of commercial laboratory processes is an asset.
General competency with computer use required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
The ability to work both individually and in a team environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Accuracy, proofreading and attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task and complete responsibilities in a timely manner.
Ability to work in a positive manner in a fast paced environment.

The expected salary range for this position is $40,000 - $50,000 per annum.
