The Procurement Quality Assurance Representative (PQAR) reports to the Procurement Quality Manager and is based at Candu Energy Inc., Mississauga, Ontario.
Responsibilities
Review procurement documentation (Engineering
Requisition , Engineering documents, Bidders List, Request for Proposal, Purchase Order) to ensure quality requirements are accurately captured and communicated to suppliers.
Review and evaluate supplier proposals/bids, determining compliance with QA requirements and conducting supplier audits as needed.
Plan and conduct supplier audit processes—including SCAR, audit reports, audit checklists, and Supplier Acceptance Letters—with proper filing of all audit documentation.
Familiarize with technical and design requirements necessary for Quality Surveillance activities (Technical Specifications, applicable codes and standards, drawings, and Inspection & Test Plan).
Perform surveillance of suppliers at their facilities to witness key inspections and review documentation packages per the approved Inspection & Test Plan.
Issue and follow up on Supplier Corrective Action Requests until closure based on Safety Surveillance findings.
Issue Quality Surveillance Reports and Quality Assurance Releases.
Liaise with the Engineering Representative during the life of the Purchase Order to provide technical interpretation or guidance on Quality Surveillance activities.
Report and, if necessary, escalated significant quality‑related issues on assigned Purchase Orders to the Procurement QA Manager, coordinating until resolution.
Maintain and monitor the validity of supplier qualifications for all open Purchase Orders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical).
Minimum of five years of practical experience in the nuclear industry; experience in automotive, aerospace, or manufacturing is also considered.
Working knowledge of quality standards including ISO 9001:2015, CSA N285.0‑2017, CSA N286‑2012, CSA N299.1‑2016, CSA B51 and ASME NCA 4000, 3800, 3300, B31.1, B31.3 codes.
Moderate computing skills with standard Microsoft Office programs.
Ability to manage multiple audits, bids, and surveillances concurrently and meet deadlines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective interpersonal relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong problem‑solving abilities to tackle a wide range of challenges.
Strong organization and work‑planning skills; ability to work with minimal supervision.
Valid driving licence required.
Approximately 50 % travel required, subject to change based on role demand.
