Summary
This posting is part of a proactive talent search as we plan for upcoming growth. We are seeking to connect with qualified candidates now, with the expectation of hiring in the near future once final approval is completed. This is commonly referred to as an Expression of Interest requisition, or EOI.

The High-Pressure Metallurgy Group (HPM) is a specialized technology group within Hatch providing consulting, design and commissioning services to our mining Clients in pressure-leach or pressure-oxidation processing. HPM is a known world leader in mine and metallurgical plant design. The HPM Group are involved in projects of all sizes, from small plant improvement studies to larger feasibility studies and execution of world class EPCM projects spanning multiple years.

Equipment manufactured for our projects includes pressure vessels and piping, mechanical equipment, and structural steel. Typical materials of supply include carbon steel with various linings, including rubber and exploding cladding, stainless, and other alloys such as titanium, tantalum, and nickel.

The SQS Coordinator assumes a key role on the project team, providing assurance that suppliers responsible for the manufacture of our equipment are complying with all relevant purchase order, code, and jurisdictional quality requirements.

In addition to the above, the SQS Coordinator assumes a subject matter expert role in equipment manufacture, quality, and inspection and provides technical support to the Hatch Engineering and Procurement disciplines.

Responsibilities

Participate in the development of project quality plans and inspection budgets

Provide technical input into review of vendor bid documentation

Participate, as required in supplier pre-qualification activities

In conjunction with Engineering, determine criticality and required inspection levels for equipment being manufactured

Provide technical input into work package quality requirements and HPM standard material and fabrication procedures

Arrange and attend pre-inspection alignment meetings with suppliers as required for critical packages

Provide technical support in review of supplier quality document deliverables

Recruit quality inspection personnel, ensuring required level of competence for the assignments

Issue inspection assignments for supplier verification activities for both Hatch and 3rd party inspection personnel

In conjunction with the Project Expeditor, ensure key quality intervention points at suppliers are attended by inspection personnel

Monitor conformance to inspection budgets on an ongoing basis

Participate in inspection activities as required at suppliers in various global geographic regions and provide inspection reports

Manage 3rd party inspection activities to ensure compliance to assignment requirements

Review and approve inspection reports

Manage supplier non-conformances through to completion

Participate in periodic progress and quality review meetings with suppliers

Provide ongoing feedback to Hatch management and Clients in the form of project quality reports

Provide ongoing technical guidance to Hatch Engineering staff in fabrication activities

Provide mentorship as required to junior inspection staff

Participate in purchase order closeout and supplier reviews

Qualifications and Experience
Essential

Possession of, or capability of obtaining certification as a Welding Inspector, minimum Level II to CSA W178.2

Strong, demonstrated technical competence in welding, fabrication, materials, and related inspection methodologies

Familiarity with ASME pressure vessel and piping codes

Experience with reviewing and interpreting specifications, standards, codes, drawings, and statutory requirements.

Previous experience with manufacturing quality control and quality assurance

Good knowledge of industry standards and regulations to be applied for inspection and testing activities

Proven track record in a similar position

Willingness to travel as required internationally and for occasional periods of greater than one week

Good understanding of project execution, especially in an EPCM environment

Computer and mobile device literate
