The Assistant Manager acts as a leader in the absence of, or in support of, the Store Manager and behaves as a business owner within the marketplace. The role represents the company as the premier destination for all vision needs within the community and delivers key performance metrics.

- Comp Sales, % Sales to Plan;
- Demonstrates understanding of retail business and the capability to transfer knowledge to superior sales and business results; learns and understands the competition and market trends.
- Supports the store manager in diagnosing the business and leverages the synergies of Retail, Lab, and Doctor to drive positive results.
- Supports store business plans to maximize sales and profit, leveraging strengths and addressing opportunities for recovery.
- Partners with the store manager to lead a team through strong knowledge and skills.
- Provides training and guidance to team members.
- Delivers clear and constructive feedback in a timely manner.
- Informs the store manager of any situation that may require development or disciplinary action of others.
- Supports recruiting, helps select high‑caliber team members, and creates a talent pipeline.
- Follows guidelines to optimally staff the store.
- Shows great pride in the store appearance and executes visual directives.
- Strives to maintain a positive working relationship with doctors.
- Adheres to and ensures compliance of the team with company policies and procedures, meeting or exceeding all goals.
- Anticipates problems before they occur; explores underlying reasons and root causes; strives for long‑term solutions.
- Performs and understands administrative duties.
- Maintains a safe working environment for all.
- Works a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Under current and valid state Opticianry license, performs the following:
- Provides expertise and product knowledge on lens choices based on the patient’s vision needs and doctor prescriptions.
- Adjusts and/or repairs eyewear.
- Presents and dispenses eyewear and creates a lasting impression.
- Performs accurate digital measurements.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Current and valid state/provincial Opticianry license.
- 1+ year(s) management/supervisory experience with direct reports.
- Knowledge of retail operations, processes, and policies.
- Strong basic math skills.
- Familiarity with cash registers, computers, and calculators.
- Strong command of the English language for all written correspondence and oral communication.
- Strong communicator and listener.
- Demonstrated high level of selling skills.
- Proven ability to solve problems.
- College degree or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a leadership position within the retail and customer service industry.
- Knowledge of basic optics.
- Knowledge of current store merchandise.
- State/Provincial licensure (if applicable) and/or ABO certification in non‑licensed states.
- Brand Final Inspector certification.
- Brand Quality, Fitting & Adjusting Program knowledge.
Pay Range: 56,115.
