GENERAL FUNCTIONThe Assistant Manager acts as a leader in the absence of or in support of the Store Manager, and behaves as a business owner within the marketplace. The role represents Clearly as the premier destination for all vision needs within the community and delivers key performance metrics.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Deliver quality and improvement to meet or exceed all key performance indicators (KPIs) including: sales, conversion, traffic, profitability, continuity of care, exam growth & retention, and net promoter score.
- Demonstrate understanding of retail business and apply knowledge to achieve superior sales and business results.
- Support the store manager in diagnosing business issues and leverage the synergies of Retail, Lab & Doctor to drive positive results.
- Assist in developing store business plans to maximize sales and profit, addressing opportunities for recovery.
- Lead a team with strong knowledge and skills, providing training, guidance, and timely feedback.
- Maintain staff development and disciplinary processes as needed.
- Recruit and select high‑caliber team members, creating a talent pipeline.
- Optimize staffing guidelines and uphold visual merchandising standards.
- Maintain positive working relationships with doctors and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Anticipate problems, explore root causes, and develop long‑term solutions.
- Ensure a safe working environment for all and work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Under a current & valid state Opticianry license, perform:
- Provide expertise and product knowledge on lens choices based on patient vision needs and doctor prescriptions.
- Adjust or repair eyewear.
- Present and dispense eyewear, creating a lasting impression.
- Perform accurate digital measurements.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- 1+ year(s) management/supervisory experience with direct reports.
- Knowledge of retail operations, processes & policies.
- Strong basic math skills.
- Familiarity with cash register, computers & calculators.
- Strong command of the English language for all written correspondence & oral communication.
- Demonstrated high-level selling skills.
- Proven ability to problem solve.
- College degree or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a leadership position within retail & customer service industry.
- Knowledge of basic optics.
- Knowledge of current store merchandise.
- State/Provincial licensure (if applicable) and/or ABO Certification in non‑licensed states.
- Brand Final Inspector Certification.
- Brand Quality, Fitting & Adjusting Program certification.
Pay Range: 56,115.
