Mississauga, Ontario – Full time – Pay rate: $18.15 per hour – Shift hours: 1900 – 0700 and 0700 – 1900 (Continental).

Allied Universal seeks a dedicated and reliable Security Guard to work at a homeless shelter. Prior experience in a shelter is an asset. The role is crucial to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong presence, the ability to handle stressful situations, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining a secure environment.

• Monitor facility access, ensuring authorized entry only, check identification, and maintain logs.
• Address and de‑escalate disputes or conflicts between residents, guests, or staff.
• Respond promptly to emergencies (medical, fire, security) and assist in evacuations.
• Conduct regular patrols to ensure safety and prevent incidents of theft, vandalism, or other criminal activity. Secure doors and windows after hours.
• Document incidents, violations, or disturbances and complete incident reports in a clear and timely manner.
• Provide a visible and authoritative presence to deter negative behavior and maintain a calm atmosphere.
• Collaborate with shelter management and staff to implement security protocols and support residents in need.

• 1–2 years of security experience, preferably in a shelter.
• Valid Ontario Security License.
• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Eligibility to work in Canada for up to 40 hours a week.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
