The Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario (ACTO) works to advance human rights and justice in housing for low-income Ontarians through legal advice & representation, law reform, training and education.
We are seeking a Social Worker for our Your Way Forward program to support a range of activities which includes providing direct case management for survivors of Gender-Based Violence. This person will be working in partnership with the program’s staff lawyer to deliver high quality trauma-informed services for survivors. This position is also part of a larger province wide project that works with seven other partner community legal clinics to provide legal services for survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking.
This is a position that is funded until March 31, 2027 with a possibility that it may continue beyond this date.
Working collaboratively with ACTO’s legal & policy team, the Social Worker will:
Provide client centred, anti-oppressive and trauma-informed intake, assessments, case management, risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy, and brief counselling for survivors.
Provide service navigation to a range of relevant services including partner clinics for criminal law and family law services, and receive referrals from partner clinics.
Provide public education and other community outreach initiatives for survivors and service providers across Ontario.
REQUIREMENTS
Masters of Social Work; an additional degree in a related field such as public policy an asset.
Experience supporting the needs of survivors of Gender-Based Violence.
Experience providing case management and brief counselling support.
Knowledge and experience of trauma-informed service delivery and anti-oppressive practice.
Knowledge of community resources and the ability to establish service delivery protocols.
Understanding of equity in policy development and delivery of social services.
Registration in good standing with OCSWSSW.
Knowledge or interest of housing policy and housing systems in Ontario.
Ability to work in a second language an asset.
This is a contract position that ends on March 31, 2027 with a salary range between $70,500 to $76,116 commensurate with experience. The position includes a pension and generous benefits (4 weeks annual vacation with 1 week December holiday closure) and pension. ACTO is a hybrid workplace with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
