Join Sojourn House as a Relief Shelter Worker to help refugees thrive in a supportive environment. Engage in case management and crisis intervention on an on-call basis.
In this vital role, you'll support refugee clients through case management while providing comprehensive coverage across varying shifts, including nights and weekends. Using an anti-racism and access-focused lens, you will navigate complex situations, ensure safety and hygiene standards, and enhance the shelter’s operations. Your ability to multi-task and connect will strengthen services provided.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide accurate information on the refugee determination process
• Conduct supportive crisis intervention and counseling
• Document and manage case interactions effectively
• Communicate shift details clearly with incoming staff
• Conduct rounds to maintain safety and cleanliness
Requirements:
• 2-year diploma in Social Services or related field
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED credentials
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and community resources
• Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and communication
