Position Overview

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Coordinator – Prevention & Early Intervention plays a key role in supporting youth who are at risk of or affected by human trafficking. This position works in close collaboration with law enforcement, schools, community agencies, and frontline partners to provide timely and coordinated supports that prioritize safety and well‑being.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for delivering holistic, client‑centered services grounded in trauma‑informed, anti‑oppressive, and harm reduction approaches. The role focuses on prevention and early intervention by guiding youth through personalized support processes, including needs identification, service planning, system navigation, and ongoing advocacy.

Using a strengths‑based lens, the Youth Program Coordinator empowers youth to identify their goals, overcome barriers, and build meaningful connections to services and supports. This includes facilitating access to resources that promote stability, independence, and a sense of belonging, while ensuring that care is responsive to each individual’s unique circumstances.

This role requires strong collaboration with multidisciplinary partners, including specialized Anti‑Human Trafficking services, to ensure coordinated responses that address risk, enhance safety, and support positive long‑term outcomes for youth experiencing or vulnerable to exploitation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily program operations, scheduling, service delivery, and participant flow.
  • Conduct intakes, risk assessments, safety planning, and individualized support plans.
  • Respond to urgent situations involving exploitation or high‑risk youth.
  • Build relationships with schools, shelters, law enforcement, and community partners.
  • Deliver workshops on trafficking awareness, online safety, grooming, and healthy relationships.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, child welfare, and social‑service agencies.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, statistics, and outcome reports.
  • Advocate for survivor rights and access to essential services.
  • Train staff, volunteers, and partners on best practices.
  • Support program improvement based on trends, needs, and survivor feedback.
Qualifications
  • Post Secondary Diploma in Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Criminology, Psychology, social justice or related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience supporting youth and family of Human Trafficking, violence or exploitation.
  • Knowledge of human trafficking indicators, dynamics, and risk factors.
  • Strong understanding of trauma‑informed and anti‑oppressive practice.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi‑sector partners.
  • Ability to respond to crisis situations with professionalism and calm.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for document creation, data management, and reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Background/Vulnerable Sector Check done in the last 6 months or ability to obtain one within a month.
  • Standard First Aid / Level A CPR certificate an asset.
