We are searching for a self‑starting Punjabi Parent Support Group Coordinator to join our team and fill an integral part of the outreach team Reach Child and Youth Development Society (REACH). Reporting to the Positive Behavior Support Program Coordinator, this role assists families experiencing vulnerabilities to access the culturally protected help and services they require. Acting as a family navigator, helps identify and remove barriers to accessing and receiving services.
Family support workers may also be liaised with in coordinating and delivering other services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Practice with culturally safe, trauma‑informed, relational, person and family‑centered approaches to develop rapport with the child, youth, and their family.
- Assist families to overcome barriers related to accessing services, including assistance with referral processes.
- Employ a strengths‑based approach when working with children, youth, and their families.
- Build relationships and connections within the community to ensure up‑to‑date knowledge regarding programs and services for children, youth and families.
- Liaise with and/or promote the interests of clients with other community service providers, professionals and school personnel as required; may accompany clients to meetings and appointments as required.
- Arrange training sessions and parent information sessions as well as coordinate group events.
- Facilitate and coordinate online connections via apps.
- Outline services provided by Reach. Provide information on and referral to other community service providers, resources and professionals.
- Encourage access and connection to existing services and supports.
- Identify gaps, issues, and systemic community barriers and provide recommendations.
- Provide/plans educational sessions on topics related to community service organizations.
- Participate in team meetings and client case reviews as necessary.
- Maintain records and statistics and provide monthly reports to the Coordinator of the Positive Behaviour Support Program.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Bachelor degree in a related human / social services field.
- One (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience working within a multi‑disciplinary team, system navigation, establishing trusting relationships with children, youth, and families.
- Must be fluent in speaking and writing Punjabi and English; other South Asian languages are an asset.
